"Asleep on the Job" (sequel) - Production Blog

Been a while since posting Nell updates cos we’re so busy in the bat cave working. WE ARE NEARLY FINISHED! Just 3 more shots to animate… this is the last big one that’s nearly done :)

Nell’s signature.  We’ve exported this as a vector path and will import it into After Effects to make it appear as if a pen is writing it.

Ok, totally forgot about this trick.  If you have lots of unused (aka junk) nodes in your hypershade, just hold a right click on for example an empty area in the Materials tab, and select ‘Edit > Delete Unused Nodes’.

A little script I found to add an object to a lattice that exists in your scene already:

Select the lattice, then the object.  Paste the following into the script editor, select all the code, and press numerical enter (that’s the enter by your keypad; the other big enter will add a new line but you want to execute the code):

string $selSet[] = `ls -sl`;

string $lattice = $selSet[0];

string $object = $selSet[1];

lattice -e -g $object $lattice;

Woohoo!  Bomb guy 1 and 2 (which are the same essentially but one is scaled smaller) are rigged and ready for action!  Significant milestone: no more rigging for the rest of the project, woot!

Not sure if this is the only way to do it, but it’s a quick little hack that works a treat:

Select attribute you want to reorder by clicking on it in the channel box. In the channel box menu, goto edit > delete attributes.  Now hit ctrl+z (undo).  The attribute is undeleted and added at the bottom of the channel box list.
